Introduction
Hyderabad is the capital city of Andhra Pradesh and the fifth largest metropolis in India. The city has been classified as an A-1 status along with New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata. Hyderabad has emerged as the cyber city of India as it is the hub of all IT related activates. Various domestic and multinational companies have their offices in the city. The major source of the city̢۪s revenue is generated from the commercial activates mainly concentrated to IT sector. Hyderabad has also become a tourist hotspot following ever increasing number of tourists during past few years.
History
Hyderabad was settled in the year 1512 AD when Quli Qutb Shahi succeeded the throne of Deccan from Brahmin Kingdom. During this period, the trade and commerce of the region flourished heavily. The material progress of the city in the long run complemented in the growth of several learning centers. Till date Hyderabad is considered to be the traditional as well as one of the popular learning centers of India. Nevertheless, after Qutb Shahi dynasty the region fell in the hands of Mougals. In the year 1724, Mir Quamaruddin who bore the title of Nizam, declared Hyderabad as an independent estate, which continued to be the same till 1948 when the rulers of the city were forced by the Indian Government to merge with the Union of India.
City of Pearls
Hyderabad is often referred as 'City of Pearls' as trade and prosperity has been the intrinsic part of the city. More importantly it is the meeting point of two of India̢۪s diverse yet unique cultures- North and South. Consequently, the city represents melting pot of different cultural identities. The presence of several means of transports such as railways, roadways and airways lends city easy accessibility. The city is well connected with different major cities of the country. People from all over the country come and live here for better life style. The economic progress of the country in the recent years is well evident in every sphere of the city. IT parks, high rising buildings, Shopping Malls, super markets, multiplexes are the defining features of the city. However, despite the dominant cosmopolitan culture of the city, the old charm of royalty still prevails in the historic monuments and buildings.
Topography
The topography of the city divided into six zones east, west, north, south and central plus the region of Secunderabad, each of them having unique identity. All the regions of Hyderabad is well connected with roadways as well as railways. Banjara Hills, Hitech City, Jubilee Hills, Langar House and Mehdipatnam are located in western Hyderabad. South Hyderabad constitutes Afzal Ganj, Dilsukh Nagar, Keshavagiri, Lal Darwaza, NTR Nagar and Umda Bazar. Abids, Nampalli and Himayat Nagar are the part of Cental Hyderabad and Mushirabad, Prakasham Nagar and Punjagutta are located in North Hyderabad.
